UPDATE MAR 2016: MyLibrary is an archive of older PC games that were played before there was any thought of a website. As such, there is no featured review, screenshots or potential fixes for tech issues. There is however, links to as much information as could be gathered in hindsight. The Library section will remain static as all new game additions will instead be in the FEATURES section as they are played and reviewed. It is therefore not a full list of PC games on the site. This section is only to provide some insight on a number of games that are unlikely to be covered in depth unless replayed at some future time. Although most of these games are quite good, they are also quite old and many of the original disc copies present challenges to run. Some of them are still playable with fixes, but will require research on how to get them running. Disc versions are the most problematic if they use SafeDisc or SecuRom as Microsoft has stripped support for these from Windows 10, 8, 7, and Vista. The following is an article How To Geek with possible solutions. You can still purchase many of these digitally, but be careful if you want to collect older disc versions.

Portal is based on a game called Narbacular Drop, an independent game released in 2005 by students of the DigPen Institute of Technology. When Valve saw the game, they hired the entire team to develop Portal. Certain elements were retained, but the theme was changed from a dungeon to the Aperture Science setting. With much of the work already done, it took a further two years and four months to complete. No more than 10 people were involved in it's development. It won several awards.

Angel of Darkness received mixed to negative reviews, but still eventually sold fairly well. It wasn't all bad, citing improvements over previous games, but the gameplay and poor enemy AI was heavily criticized. Controls and camera problems were also cited as being awkward. With a backlash from the fans, the game caused multiple problems for the franchise. The head of Core Design resigned and plans for a trilogy were scrapped. Production of future games were then assigned to Crystal Dynamics.

This is a direct sequel to TR Legend, which was the first TR game developed by Crystal Dynamics. It used an all-new engine, which was also used for Deus Ex: Human Revolution. This was the last TR title published by Eidos before they were acquired by SquareEnix. The game received generally positive reviews, but failed to meet sales expectations at release. In a post-mortem interview, the developer cites many reasons for what went wrong including next-gen development and lack of time for polishing.

Hitman 2 is the first sequel to Codename 47. It released to very good reviews and has subsequently sold very well over the years. In 2009, Eidos was acquired by Square Enix and all future titles released under their brand. Hitman: Sniper Challenge is a spin-off of Hitman: Absolution and comes included with that game. In the new episodic format for 2016, you can pay full price up front with new content being delivered in six releases over 2016. I see an ugly trend starting here for Triple AAA games.

Although the games feature his name, Tom Clancy had little or no involvement in the series. This is another successful IP from Ubisoft and this game received very good reviews on release. This is the only game NOT available on Steam due to an unfixed light and shadow problem that will not work on modern hardware. However, a user is offering a fix on the Steam Community and Ubisoft forums. If you want to get your hands on the game, private sellers may be the only option here.

The Penumbra series was originally intended to be released in three episodes. However, after problems involving Overture's publisher Lexicon, the series was reduced to two episodes with Black Plague being published by Paradox. Frictional listened to the fans and made several changes including losing the dogs and the combat system that received complaints in the first game. When criticised for its short length and unsatisfying ending, an expansion called Requiem was released.

This was the first game of three, based on the Agatha Christie novels of the same name. One of the major obstacles to development was gaining approval for aspects of the game from Chorion, who owned the rights to Agatha Christie works. The game received widely varying reviews being criticized for out-of-date graphics and crude character models per the standards of the day. However, the voice acting was generally praised. The Adventure Company was sold to Nordic Games in 2011.

After such criticism of the first game, several graphical improvements to character design and animation were made. They also succeeded in convincing David Suchet of TV Poirot fame to do the voice acting. However, once again, the game received widely varying reviews citing the repetitive nature of tasks as one of the culprits. AWE Productions went on to make Evil Under The Sun, but further Agatha Christie game products were developed by others.

Sometimes game IPs, developer studios, and publishers change hands so often, it's hard to track down license ownership. Currently, for some reason, only The Secret of Loch Ness seems to be more readily available for sale. In 2003, Wanadoo Edition and Microids were merged to form MC2 France, which was acquired by Anuman Interactive in 2009 and this title is currently published under them. According to reviews, you're probably not missing much.

This is the seventh installment of the Nancy Drew series by Her Interactive. In total, there are 32 games with the latest, Sea of Darkness, released in 2015. However, layoffs in May of 2015 under a new CEO, have some speculating as to the future of Nancy Drew. Her Interactive is cited as saying that they want to take the company in new directions to reflect the current gaming market.

This is the fourth game in this long-running game series and the last to be published by DreamCatcher. The first Nancy Drew game, Secrets Can Kill, was released in 1998 and a remastered edition in 2010. The games were originally designed to appeal to teen-aged girls. Her Interactive and Nancy Drew are still going strong and the company is cited as one of the most successful female-run game companies.

This is the first game in the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes series. Frogwares is located in the Ukraine and was established in the year 2000. They are currently developing Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter, which is due to be released in 2016. Mystery of the Mummy was released on Steam in 2008 and has mostly garnered negative reviews.

The Black Mirror received mixed reviews from the critics but has a high user score. Although the game was praised for its beautiful graphics, it was criticised for its poor voice-overs and slow pace. Many years later, in 2009, Cranberry Productions released a sequel and then another in 2011. The last game developed by Future Games was Alter Ego in 2010, which was mostly unsuccessful and the company closed in 2011. Nordic Games acquired the Black Mirror IP in 2014.

The Eye of Isis employs a similar atmosphere and game playing style to the early Resident Evil games. Asylum Entertainment doesn't seem to have done much in the way of PC games, but currently they have a site for a kickstarter MMORPG game called Indentity. Steam seems to be only place where you still buy Curse The Eye of Isis and Anuman is listed as the developer.

If you're a die-hard vampire fan, this is probably one to add to your list. It has mostly positive reviews on Steam. Frogwares also does the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes series. There's a known problem with the PhysX, so be sure to check the Steam forum. Also make sure you're running with Admin rights on. The sequel, Love Kills, has added hidden-object puzzles to the game.

The PC version of the game received mixed reviews being criticized for its voice acting, short length and pixel hunting puzzles. However, the graphics and atmosphere were praised. In 2011, a remade version was released for the OS X and subsequently for iOS and Android. The PC version was brought to Steam in 2014, but according to users it's not the same as the original CD version having content removed. Dracula 3, Dracula 4, and Dracula 5, have unrelated story-lines.

I have a particular fondness for this game as it was the first PC game I ever played on the first PC I ever owned. Knowing nothing about gaming and options like gamma, it's kinda funny that I played the whole basement section in complete darkness and still got through that maze. The game is a direct sequel to Resurrection and released to mixed reviews, but was generally thought to be better than is predecessor. Once again, a modified version was made for other platforms then released on Steam.
